Adoption Updates
Sadly, we are not able to save every horse that we take in. This mare came in extremely emaciated and weak. She had an old injury to her rear leg that probably made it difficult for her to compete for food at her previous home. When horses are not separated to feed, often the more dominant horses will push the weaker ones away.
We lost Elroy on 11-1-05 to what appeared to be colic. Our vets made 3 calls and tried everything, but he could not be helped.  We made the decision to have him euthanized rather than making him suffer. Elroy - was a 23 yr old pony mule, and one of my all time favorites! He could wear us out trying to catch him.

He was buried under his favorite little apple tree. I'm really going to miss this guy. : (
Walker gelding we picked up 9-27. We got him in for surgery ASAP for the tumor encompassing his penis, it ended up weighing 43 lbs, and total amputation was necessary. Sad to report we were unable to save "Buddy". After several attempts to get him back up after surgery failed, he had to be euthanized. Buddy is now buried on our farm. Losses are very hard, but keep us determined to help.
We've had some sad losses since opening (some are posted at the bottom of this page), but also get many updates & photos of horses we've adopted. I'll be changing these updates, make sure you check in often to see what some of our former rescues are up to!

Hi Suzie, Hope all is well with you.  I couldn't wait to email you. Stormy had his first dressage show on Saturday & took a 4th out of 6 in his first class & placed 1st out of 8 in his second class!!!  He was such a gentleman & took everything in stride. There will be more pics on the professional photographer's website later today that you'll have to check out. It's www.fairfieldphoto.com, he's #56. We had several people ask about him & commenting on how beautiful he is, we told them we got him from you. Hope you like the pics, I've been bragging about him to everyone since he won!  Take care, Lora
6-18-07 Mack  - Mack is doing great at his new home with the Newmans, he seems very happy at his new home, and settled in like he'd been there for years the evening we delivered him. Thanks for giving this nice horse a great new home!
June 10 -2007 HI Suzie,
I thought we should update you on Misty. She has two field mates that she has bonded with. Misty has taken on teaching Tumbleweed how to be a horse. She seems very happy and content with her friends. We had a vet out that prescribed bute for her arthritis and that seems to have made a world of difference in her disposition. The other two are not ridable at this point but we're working in that direction. We are very happy to have her as part of our family. Thank you for your dedication and giving us the opportunity to add Misty to our "herd".
7-11-07 Hi Suzie,
Hope everything is going well. I'm sure you have your hands full. Here are some pics of Beauty and her baby Minxi who is 15 months old now and about 15 hands already!! Beauty has no problems with her leg now and canters and gallops easily. I guess she just needed to get strength in it. Minxi's legs straightened out nicely, too. You can't tell that they were ever windswept. Also, one of Rosie, who is getting along very well as usual. She's a  food vacuum. We are working on ground schooling with Minxi and once in a while get to ride. You know how that is!! Thanks! Carol Newlin

Hi Suzie,
We are soooo happy with Rosie.  She is spoiled rotten, just like Mick.  She is a funny little girl.  She makes me laugh when the girls have her out to ride her.We love her so much and I wouldn't mind at all if her previous owner called or emailed me.  I would love to tell her how well she is doing. I have a few buddies too that I will talk to about your full house and see if any of them can help out.Take care and I hope to see you soon. Shell
Congratulations on the Anderson sling! Steve and I are anxious to come to your open house againthis year. I'll check back to see when the date is. I have 3 nice halters that I want to bring for you.Hope you enjoyed your vacation. Izzy is looking wonderful - Doc got poked in the eye and the vet was out - he couldn't get over how much Izzy has improved in her coat and her back.  She's a real sweetheart and we love having her. We still hope to someday soon build another stall and maybe find a nice "bombproof" ride for Steve!Take care - Becky Babjak

5-05-09 Skeedoe does alot of local open shows in fact Friday night went to Marmon Valley, he placed 4th showmanship 13 & under (she's only 5!!) and 3rd in trail in hand and third in trail both trail classes were open classes!!He's such a good boy!!May 17 we are going to go to Urbana hopefully at fairgrounds and run barrels and poles.I can't believe that this pony is becoming an all around eventer! He is so calm and wonderful at the shows.Everyone loves him! We have people come up to us at every show and comment on him and we have even had some rather large offers for him. One guy who had a friend who is a vet offered 3,000.00 for him.Can you believe that?Of course to Maleah there is no amount of money to replace him. Thanks - Tina
